AVT (S) PTE LTD,
formerly known as Audio Video Technology (S) Pte Ltd was established in Singapore
in 1984 as SPT MARINE PTE LTD to focus primarily on
audio communication systems and products for the marine field.
The customer base was mainly shipyards and offshore
construction companies, ship owners and operators as well as
navies and coast guard authorities. Typically, the products
included intercoms, talkbacks, sound powered telephones,
marinized PABXs and auto telephones and PA
Systems.
The
company succeeded rapidly in building up its name as a reliable specialist supplier and
systems house and substantial work were received from major shipyards in the Far East.
These included the larger shipyards in Korea, Japan and Taiwan as well as the local ones
in Malaysia and Singapore.
However, the mid-80s downturn in
the marine and offshore industries forced a new direction in
the company. While there was a conscious need to diversify and
to broaden the customer base, the company was aware of the
danger in spreading its limited resources too thin. It was
then decided that we would apply the same technology and more
importantly, the specialized systems expertise and experience
gained in audio engineering to a multitude of other market
segments.
This
resulted in the company directing its efforts into industrial
and commercial fields. It soon gained inroads into Broadcast
studios, Banks/Financial Industries, Hospitals, Refineries,
Power Plants and Highway
Authorities.
This was
achieved by providing unique engineering solutions to various
aural communication problems; systemizing and blending a
mixture of products and bridging the gaps with in-house
designs. Typically, the company has supplied flexi-studio
intercoms, fireman intercoms, dynamic talkback systems for
financial institutions, integrated voice systems for security
applications, emergency highway telephones and explosion proof
CCTV systems.
To reflect
the new directions in audio and video engineering, it changed
the name appropriately to AUDIO VIDEO TECHNOLOGY (S) PTE LTD.
In 1993, this was shortened to AVT (S) PTE LTD.
A
fully owned subsidiary company has established in 1985 in Malaysia known as AUDIO VIDEO
TECHNOLOGY (M) SDN BHD. In 1993, the Company changed the name to AVT SYSTEMS (M) SDN BHD.
It carried out its business activities under the same philosophies and policies of the
parent company in Singapore.
The
Directors felt that there was a need to invite other partners to help fund the expansion
of the company. ELECTROSCON SDN BHD, a Malaysian company specializing in telecommunication
work was approached as it was felt that they had similar business concepts and could
provide the synergy, financing and licensing for work with the government sectors in Malaysia.
The company structure was then reorganized to enable ELECTROSCON to hold 60% equity in AVT
SYSTEMS (M) SDN BHD. The paid up capital of the Malaysian
company was increased and AVT (S) PTE LTD became the wholly
owned subsidiary of AVT SYSTEMS (M) SDN BHD. In line with the
new corporate policy, the Malaysian company was renamed
ELECTROSCON AVM (M) SDN BHD.
The AVT
group of companies specializes in providing engineering
solutions for the communication needs of 4 main market
sectors; Transport, Marine & Offshore, Health and Security
Electronics.
We provide comprehensive
management and implementation of the projects and our services
include project planning, co-ordination and control, product
and system design, technical documentation, manufacture,
assembly, installation, setting to work and the follow up
warranty service and maintenance.
Together
with our own products, the company represents a number of
established brand names in the communication and security
electronics business. These gives us the ability to provide a
mix of products and systems to best meet our clients
requirements.
Although
the headquarter is in
Malaysia
, the subsidiary office in
Singapore
has been addressing the local and
overseas market in the Asian-Pacific region for many
years.
